About Cancer Lifeline South West (CLSW)

A cancer diagnosis can have a far-reaching effect on people and their families. Post treatment is a time when people are expected to ‘get back to
normal’ but for many ‘normal’ has changed. The shock of the diagnosis and treatment wears off and the reality sets in. It can be a time when people feel isolated and alone. We provide three-day residential breaks for cancer patients – on their own or with a relative or friend. The group is limited to ten participants and is facilitated by three specialist facilitators who lead relaxation and meditation/mindfulness groups and help with ‘coping’ strategies for going forward. Participants benefit from the support of others within the group.

CLSW has been providing these free therapeutic residential breaks in the South West for people who are living with or have had a cancer diagnosis and their carers/partners since 2002.

Here are some of the things participants have said:

“This has been a real life-changing experience for me. Thank you all for giving me sunshine again.”

“Thank you for making me feel part of the human race again”
